Dec 05, 2018 It seems like this is a feature that isn't available for the mac edition of Excel. I was able to obtain a Windows machine and get distinct counts in the pivot table. If it is available for mac. If you need to count the number of unique values in a range of cells. Excel Formula Training. Get over 200 Excel shortcuts for Windows and Mac in one handy PDF.

Hi all, Using a Pivot tables, I summarized unique values of data (in this case, Unique ID numbers), using the 'Distinct count' option in the value field settings window. Someone else wanted me to teach them how to do this; so in the same document, but in a new sheet, I attempted to recreate the pivot table using the same data and same exact fields and filters. However, when I looked for the 'distinct count' option, in the value field settings for this new table, it appears to be gone. I tried making the table in the same sheet as the one where the distinct count option is available, as well as recreating the table using different data in a different document, and ran into the same issue both times.

The table where the distinct count option hasn't disappeared, still has the distinct count option, so I'm not sure, why the other 3 tables do not. Has this happened to anyone else before? If not, is there any other way to get a distinct count of values, besides for this? (I attached screenshots of the disappearing distinct count button, but can't upload the actual data, due to privacy restrictions.) Thank you!
